Ministry of Yoga

The Ministry of Yoga is a purpose built self-run yoga retreat located only a short 12 minute scenic drive from Martinborough. It is elevated, capturing all day sun and is nestled within ten acres of gently rolling fields that overlook vineyards.

The eco house comfortably sleeps nine. A large deck, wrapping around the house and connecting it with the yoga studio, allows for outdoor entertainment in front of a roaring fire complete with local wines, or yoga outside in the sun. The house and yoga studio combines warm natural interior timbers with raw concrete floors and a charred larch exterior to create a modern yet timeless structure that sits lightly on the land. It was built during 2021 and encompasses double glazing, two open fireplaces, and a modern fully equipped entertaining kitchen.

Yoga mats and blocks are provided for your stay free of charge as part of your booking. You may like to bring your own mat, however, Ministry of Yoga (MOY) mats have been carefully sourced and rigorously tested under the most vigorous of hot yoga conditions; you should definitely give one a try! Once converted, brand new MOY yoga mats and blocks can be purchased at share-the-love wholesale prices from our website here. All NZ shipping is free.

To utilise as much natural energy as possible, The MOY yoga studio is glass on three sides capturing abundant natural light and the sun’s ambient heat. It has expansive views across farmland and vineyards toward towering hills to ensure yogis are nestled in nature. Measuring 5 metres wide x 7 metres long, the yoga studio easily caters for nine, with space for summertime spill out onto the deck. It is underfloor heated with additional optional infra-red ceiling panels for those who like it hot! An inbuilt hi-spec stereo system, independent from that of the house, allows for yogis’ own yoga flow playlists. Or crank open the bi-folds, and be immersed in birdsong.
